Fetal Reduction in Gwalior – Aarush Diagnostic Center
What is Fetal Reduction?
Fetal Reduction in Gwalior is a medical procedure used to reduce the number of fetuses in a multiple pregnancy, usually when there are more than two. It may also be advised if one or more babies show structural abnormalities or an increased risk of chromosomal disorders detected through ultrasound.
Why is it Advised?
The procedure is recommended to lower health risks for the mother and improve the chances of a healthy pregnancy. Reducing the number of fetuses decreases the risk of complications such as premature birth and improves outcomes for the remaining babies.
- Increases the duration of pregnancy
- Reduces risks associated with multiple pregnancies
- Enhances the chances of a successful and safe delivery for the remaining fetuses
Why is it Advised?
Fetal reduction is usually done between 11 and 13 weeks of pregnancy, after an NT scan. In certain cases, it can be performed up to 22 weeks depending on medical advice.
